Week 16th-18th
A short week, yay! And one week until Christmas! Yippee!! We are all very excited, and I am only a *little* bit freaking out.
The boys have asked to learn about Norse Mythology for a little while and take a break from Story of the World. Since we will be gone until the end of January I decided we will shift focus on social studies until then. We have a pile of books form the library and I am looking into history documentaries we could watch. I also ordered some Norse coloring books which the boys can do on our trip. We also have a very cool story book that takes you through all the countries traditional winter holiday celebrations, so we are learning about that as well.
We are writing Christmas cards to our far-away cousins this week for writing. The boys are still reading Elephant and Piggie books- Emmet reads to me on his own almost every day from our basket of board books.
The boys really wanted to make gingerbread houses from scratch this year. Our science was attempting three recipes and four batches of gingerbread.....and then building houses from graham crackers. Ha! It was a lot of fun despite the fact that we made our chickens piles of gingerbread!
This is all we have accomplished this week, but hope to continue some school over Christmas break, if nothing else just living is learning!
Happy Holidays,
The Dillmans
