The Last Two Weeks od February

March is here! March is here! Although I am excited, I have some catching up to do to finish off February before we can truly begin March.

The last two weeks went by in a blur. We studied about Eastern countries and read stories about Marco Polo and his father from Story of the World.

All About Reading we have worked on the sounds of CH and more syllable division rules. The boys are reading constantly, to us, to each other, to themselves. I have not been keeping track of books they read, sometimes it is an article in a magazine, but I need to get back to it to show our 50 books read. Avery has done the lesson for letter B and C the last two weeks.

All About Spelling we are plugging along nicely. The boys spell with tiles, write it out, and practice sounding out each week. It is really helping in their reading development as well. I can see them implementing these skills when they encounter unfamiliar words.

For PE we started swim lessons last week! It is going well. Michael works out with me while his brothers have lessons as well. We meet the co-op twice a week no matter the weather at parks and also went skiing for the first time with the boys! They chose that subject for their free writing this week as well.

I had been struggling with art. I haven't had the motivation to find projects for us, so we did a field trip to a craft store for ideas. They picked out giant canvases and started painting projects. We also made recycled robots with the co-op and another day we learned about dragon flies and made really cool bug eyes.

For Spanish we have been reading our readers twice a week and doing worksheets. We got out our spanish-english childrens dictionary last week as well to help with the lesson.

For science we are still on grasslands these last two weeks and will be switching to taiga this week. We also hatched chicks!, learned about dragonflies, went on a nature walk to look for signs of spring, and started seeds for the garden.

I'm so excited March is here! My birthday is this weekend and we have some fun plans! Hope you have a lucky month!

The Dillman's

P.s. we named the new calf Brigid. Still waiting on three more babies!
