Week 18 January 18-22nd: Trestle Bridges and Painting Treasure Boxs

On Monday we read our chapter of Story of the World. We learned about Russia and their attempts to become more western, which led to war. We did an art project of coloring Russian Onion Dome buildings on black paper with oil pastels.

Tuesday our co-op explored a portion of the Banks-Vernonia trail, finding this awesome trestle bridge (we walked acrossed it and then came down beside it to play in a meadow). There was also a lot of climbing up and down dirt cliffsides along the path. They all had a lot of fun!

We found hibernating newts in our garden under a plastic tarp! So cute! We moved them under the new tarp location so they could continue sleeping.

Many, many games were played this week. Cards, Photosynthesis, Fluxx FairyTale, Minecraft Builders and Biomes, Alphabet Woods, and Harry Potter Trouble! We have started playing board games Wednesday night as family game night. We make a charcuterie board, which the boys LOVE, and snack and play for hours. We also use games during the day a lot for school and for fun.

Thursday our co-op celebrated a members birthday by painting treasure chests and eating fruit salad. We keep things simple, but fun!

We also did pages in our math and writing books, read many books, and read our intro to the Kids Moon Club. This months moon is the Wolf Moon and we have been reading about wolves.
Finally, we have three new baby cows! Three Jersey steers to raise for meat, but to admire how stinking cute they are for now!

Have a great week!
The Dillmans
