ELA

I can read 10 books 100 pages or longer in the last two quarters of the year.

I can distinguish my own point of view from that of the author of informational text, and the narrator or those of the characters in stories.

I can explain how illustrations contribute to my understanding of stories (e.g., create mood, emphasize aspects of a character or setting) and informational texts (e.g.,

where, when, why, and how key events occur).

I can compare and contrast the themes, settings, and plots of stories written by the same author about the same or similar characters (e.g., in books from a series).

-Emmet has read almost all of the Minecraft comic books in the Redstone Junior High series as well as reading the Tales of and 8 Bit Kitten series.

SCIENCE

I can complete Steve Spangler Scicnce kits and learn about refraction, color science, electrical science,

I can take online classes to learn about the science and nature of food and develop my cooking skills.

-Emmet has completed 3 Steve Spangler science kits and has learned about color science, rainbow science, refraction of light, electrical current, conductors, and insulators

-Emmet has continued to learn about food science through many cooking lessons, via books, his own experiments, and watching cooking shows








SOCIAL STUDIES

I can play social-emotional board games to learn ways to calm down, discuss my feelings, and interact peacefully with my siblings and friends. 

I can describe life in early modern times.

I can describe how individuals, groups, (e.g., socioeconomic, ethnic, and social groups including individuals who are American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian or Americans of African, Asian, Pacific Island, Chicano, Latino, or Middle Eastern descent), religious groups, and other traditionally marginalized groups (women, people with disabilities, immigrants, refugees, and individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender), events and developments have shaped the local community and region. I can explain why individuals and groups (e.g., socioeconomic, ethnic, social, religious, and traditionally marginalized groups) in the same historical period differed in the way they viewed and interpreted historical events. 

I can analyze the impact of personal financial decisions on personal, community, regional, and world resources. (i.e., how my individual financial actions have an impact on myself/others/resources) 

-Emmet has played board games to help with social-emotional development such as Mad Dragon

-Emmet plays board games and reads books to learn about life in early modern times

-We have completed 33 chapters in Story of the World

-Emmet has studying about multiple groups of people through living history books
