Week 27 April 5th-9th: Belated Easter and Waterfalls

Apparently I took very little photos this week! We started the week reading books and our chapter in Story of the World. We learned about the downfall, resurgence, and end of Napoleon. I didn't know much about him before this year; he was quite the conqueror.

Tuesday our co-op had our Easter party! Egg hunt, fun potluck, and lots of outside time playing.

Wednesday was something new! We had our babysitter so I could work in the garden, but we also hosted our first roll playing game, Kids On Brooms! Another co-op mama is leading the group and the kids who wanted to participate worked on their character design and helped come up with descriptions and plans for their magic school the game is based around. My boys had a ton of fun and want to sew costumes to wear!

Thursday was a big adventure day with co-op! We went to Silver Falls State Park. Even though I grew up two miles from the park, and that my parents still lived there until last year, we had never taken the boys hiking there. We got to hike to three waterfalls, play at the nature park, and also have some field game time!

Over the weekend we visited the Banks-Vernonia trail and biked about three miles of it. The boys had a blast and we will have to make another trip to bike some more of it in the future! It is slightly downhill from the middle point, so next time we will start in Banks and bike up hill, then be able to coast back down to Banks at the end.

Michael has such a deep love and interest in Minecraft. He spent a lot of time compiling information online, printing, and assembling a "scroll of knowledge" with all the Minecraft info he wanted to learn about. He could have read it online, but he wanted to do it this way. I am pretty impressed by his dedication to this project!

We also did our math and writing pages almost every day this week! Trying to get back into a routine as we fell off our old one beginning of March with the weather change and me working more in the garden. Things the boys want to learn about over the next few months: Anatomy, Environmental Science, and to take horse back riding lessons again.
