ELA

I can complete lessons in 100 Easy Lessons each week, finishing the book by year end.

I can read simple, one syllable words.

I can isolate sounds in 3 and 4 letter words.

Avery has completed the first 17 lessons of 100 Easy Lessons, he will continue through the summer. Avery can read simple words, sounding them out phonetically, including Bob Books.

MATH

I can complete pages in Minecraft Grade 1 book

I can reinforce math skills and practice addition and subtraction through board games.

Avery plays board games on an almost daily basis. Avery finished the Minecraft Grade 1 book!

SCIENCE

Avery uses our tri-folds often at home to identify birds, and on co-op hikes to ID lots of flora and fauna. Avery completes Kiwi Co boxes to explore engineering concepts as well as Steve Spangler kits for science concepts. Avery looks through and is read science books weekly. Avery plays science based board games on a weekly basis. Avery explored many scientific phenomena with his OMSI kits.

I can use tri-folds, bandanas, and other nature science tools from Acorn Naturalists to examining, identity, and understand the natural science around me.

I can learn engineering principals, utilitze those skills to create projects, and gain perspective

I can better understand and explain scientific phenomena by experimenting with OMSI science kits and toys

I can learn about science through Steve Spangler Science kits in the mail.

I can learn about science through reading books

I can learn about sciecne through playing board games.

I can ask questions, make observations, gather information about a situation people want to change to define a simple problem that can be solved through the

development of a new or improved object or tool.

I can develop a simple sketch, drawing, or physical model to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function as needed to solve a given problem.

I can analyze data from tests of two objects designed to solve the same problem to compare the strengths and weaknesses of how each performs.

Avery completed the Climate Change science kit from Wild Environmental, learning about the life cycle of plants and how our climate effects their growth cycle. With co-op we hiked at Jackson Bottom Wetlands and discussed humans effects on nature areas and how we can help reduce our impact

I can use materials to design a solution to a human problem by mimicking how plants and/or animals use their external parts to help them survive, grow, and meet their

needs.

Avery has helped raised chicks and turkey from eggs and has seen first hand the result of changes in generations. He also has watched our mama turkey raise her chicks and has raised chicks himself, seeing the behaviors parents use to help offspring survive and mimicking them in a artificial environment to raise his chickens.

I can read texts and use media to determine patterns in behavior of parents and offspring that help offspring survive.

I can make observations to construct an evidence-based account that young plants and animals are like, but not exactly like, their parents.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Avery is 2 chapters away from completing Story Of The World Vol 3. He listens to chapters on a weekly basis as well as living picture books on complementing subjects. His favorites are the books form the You Wouldn't Want To Be.... series. Avery also plays games, completes crafts and art projects, and watches documentaries focusing on the history timelines following SOTW.

I can listen to all of Story of the World Vol 3 this year, answer questions at ends of chapters, and complete a final project on one subject we learned about through the year.

I can describe life in early modern times.

I can show competency of subject material through completion of projects, videos and pictures of myself demonstrating knowledge, and keeping a list of books that are read to me about topics.

ELECTIVES

Avery attends co-op twice a week and participates in field games, field trips, hikes, art projects, science projects, and nature journaling.

I can do nature based art projects at co-op.

I can do outdoor play in any weather at co-op doing activities that improve my balance, coordination, and stamina.

I can complete art projects with my art supplies based on our social studies subjects.

I can nature journal each week while exploring natural areas with co-op.
