Week 2: Game School Galore!
Hello week 2!! With our vegetable CSA running until the last week of October, I feel like the first two months of school are going to fly by! I cannot believe we are at the end of September almost already!!
We spent a lot of hours playing board games this week! Our puppies require a lot of outside time, for stinky puppy messes as well as exercise so they will sleep! We happened to get a new table at the beginning of summer so our old one moved to our deck. It has been perfect for outdoor dining, doing school outside, playing games, and in general enjoying the great fall weather! The boys played Mouseguard with each other and their dad several times this week. Kind of a cross between Chess and Stratego, you have mice that can only move certain directions and you strategically use them to bump the other players mice off the board and move your own to the opposite side to win. We also played Statego several times! Like a hide and seek version of Chess, where each piece has it's own move and ability, and you have to find the other players flag by attacking each piece and hoping it is the flag, rather than reveling a strong opponent, knocking out your piece. They also played several rounds of Magic the Gathering with dad, Engineering Ants with me, and Go Fish!
Emmet is enjoying his new writing and math books!
Michael working on a Story of the World worksheet while I read.
Avery is blasting through the 100 Easy Lessons book. We started up where we had left off in the spring and he remembered the letter sounds easily and is sounding out words beautifully! He also got new writing and math books and really enjoys them. And yes, more often than not we all have tea with school!
Somedays I am tired, ha ha, so we do school on the couch! I love listening to them help each other wither their workbooks. The older two help Michael and even each other when problems are challenging. Most days they do their workbooks without me, while I work, and we do history, art and games together on days I work half time.
Have a wonderful week!
The Dillmans
