Week 19 January 24-28th: Lungs and Bao Buns
This week was so much fun! A trip to the library resulted in a yogurt maker and a dumpling cooking kit! We also read our Story of the World chapter and did math and writing work books, I love this workbook page from Avery who made monster faces for his math!
These are our books we reference each week for our Human Body unit.
Our little models are coming along so nicely!! We have livers, lungs, digestive tracts, diaphragms, stomachs and faces!! We learned how we breath air into our lungs, filling our bronchioles and then alveoli, which transfers the oxygen into our blood. As we breath out the carbon dioxide leaves the blood and whooshes out of our lungs. We practiced breathing with our hands on our abdomens and chests, feelings how are diaphragm moves up and down. Then we went on a tangent and I spoke about how important deep breaths are for our reproductive anatomy because the movement of the diaphragm stretches muscles all the way down our abdomen helping strengthen and increase functionality.
One day this week was chocolate cake day!! So we made cake and read winter poems one morning!
The yogurt maker was a flop, ha ha, we were not able to make a thick yogurt. Instead we had a fantastic time playing with the dumpling kit!! We made bao buns in the steamer baskets. We also bought some made dumplings and cooked them in the steamer basket as well!
We hope you had a fantastic week!
