Week 22 February 14-18: Kiwi Boxes, Copper, and Waterfalls!
This week we had fun mail surprises! We re-started our Kiwi company science boxes, and they came only a few days later! We also did our regularly scheduled science, math, reading, writing, history, and we started Harry Potter series again as a read aloud!
Michael working on his writing book. He decided to finish up the one from last year he hadn't completed yet. Next we are going to start doing more free writing and working towards creating opinion and research papers.
Avery's kiwi box had him make a conveyor belt and then a little box with a marble it in to teach Newtons third law of motion. The marble in the box kept the box flipping over and over, never falling off the end of the moving belt!
Emmet's maker class has been so much fun! His first week he made jewlery from old pieces, the second week he hammered copper into new things, and the third week he got to work with textiles making a leather pouch and sewing himself a new shirt!
Emmet picked out a paper doll book recently and has really been enjoying it!
Emmet has been choosing to do math flash cards for math time.
I got to go on a hike with other moms this week, and no children!! We hiked Multnomah falls and then continued on the trail. 7 miles of waterfalls, straight uphill and straight back down hill!
History took us to China this week. It focused mostly on China and Russia fighting over a port in the north.
I found a wipe clean Usborne writing book for Avery to practice in this week.
Emmet's kiwi box had him make his own snap press!! Perfect timing as he just took his makers class on crafting with textiles and got to use a really big snap press in class.
We had a good week of fun! We also had a cold and skipped our co-op days, but that meant more reading together instead.Emmet picked out a paper doll book recently and has really been enjoying it!
