Week 28 March 4th-8th: New Curriculum!
The beginning of fourth quarter has brought with it new books and curriculum plans! We finished the current math and writing books Michael and Emmet were completing. Emmet we are still figuring out what he will do for writing next, but Michael has decided to work on his cursive again and we found a Minecraft themed cursive book. I found a generic 5th grade math book for Michael. He is tired of Beast Academy and I want to see where we may have gaps in relation to his grade level. Emmet's math book is coming with our big box of supplies from Rainbow Resources.
Outer Space!! It is our theme and unit for fourth quarter! We found a fun simple guide from Waldock Way. Each week we have a space theme to learn about and a craft project to follow. This week was about what is outer space. We made galaxy drawings and paintings. We watched Apllo 13 and Hidden Figures.Michael made cookies!
We got some art supplies and the boys spent a few days crafting and baking clay figures.
We finished our current read aloud, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. We celebrated by watching the movie and I had the boys tell me every time they noticed a difference from book to movie. I wrote them down as we watched and we had over four pages of differences!!
Michael finished his painting this week of our solar system!
We played Labyrinth, Munchkin, Ticket to Ride Europe, Donner Dinner Party, and Zombie Fluxx this week.
We had a cold this week and ended up skipping both days of co-op. We did make it to Avery's soccer and Michael's track on Thursday! Michael said it was SO hard and all they did was run. Ha! He isn't sure about it, but we are going to try a few more times. Avery LOVED soccer and is excited to go back.
Hope you had a good week,
The Dillmans
