We had a long but good week! John had to travel to Texas for work for a few days, so boys had to fend for themselves a bit more than usual! When he is home he tries to work from home my garden days I don't have a nanny so he can help with questions and food!
We played A LOT of board games this week! This one is from the library and super complicated. They figured out how to play it on their own and have been loving it! We also played Doodle Dungeons, Exploding Kittens, King of Tokyo, and lots of Dungeons and Dragons work on their campaign.
Emmet just got his cursive writing book as well as his new math book! He is really liking the math book!
Michael came and helped us plant cabbages this week!
Their big project of the week was making some 3D space buildables! They turned out SO cool!
Michael chose the History of Minecraft as his research paper. A friend gave me the IEW guide to writing papers and we followed their examples on paper writing. First you read your research piece, then write down key words from the piece, then re write sentences using those key words. It resonated so well with Michael, and he did the entire thing in one day!! I am so impressed! We plan to use IEW next year as our writing curriculum.
Avery is working his way through his huge 2nd grade Minecraft workbook of fun! He enjoys it.
Michael is also really loving cursive right now!
Michaels final paper!
Emmet's 3D space model!
Avery playing Harry Potter Trouble! It has extra cards with extra things to do rather than the original Trouble where you just go around the board. We finished Harry Potter number 4 and watched the movie, comparing and contrasting, and have started book 5!
Emmet has started reading the first Hunger Games book after finishing the Tales of an 8 Bit Kitten for the third or fourth time....they all love that series! Michael is still on book 11 of the How to Train your Dragon series, and Avery just finished the first reader in All About Reading 1.
We have not done history this week, but the boys did a lot of research for their papers instead.
Have a wonderful weekend,
The Dillmans
