April Showers Brings May Flowers
April is upon us! And the sun has come out! We had a busy and good week! Our Kiwi crates came as did our Usborne books, so the boys were quite occupied!
Story of The World we read about kingdoms of Africa and India during the middle ages. We played a super fun game where we pretended to be gold and salt traders in Africa. We could run around the house, which was the long path through the desert, or go the shorter way through Ghana and pay a tax. It was a lot of fun, good math game, qnd and great exercise. The boys spent an hour trying different ways and attempting to beat their score- could they go the slow way and make more money, or was the taxed fast route better? Love education activities that also wear them out!
We wrote out to-do lists again for our free writing. Emmet's were Disney Land, Lego Land, and Great Wolf Lodge. They all seem to be doing pretty well having to stay home, we do have a lot of space we can go out into, but I can tell the thought of everything being closed is bothering them some. We went to town together for groceries, but kida stayed in the car while John and I took turns at stores. Loud music blasting and waving at people walking by the car made up for not being able to get out.
All about reading we learned about Viwel Team Syllables and read a story about a pet shop. Avery practiced letters I and J.
We did our math books, read our Spanish readers, and our Kiwi boxes were our art/science. Avery made a kite, airplane, and stomp rocket, learning about flight. Emmet's crate is an art one and made zipper pulls. And Michael made a perpetual calendar!
AND it was April fools! We have a lot of fun doing pranks on each other. I made jello hard boiled eggs and tofu scrambled eggs for breakfast. Then we had milk jello, meatloaf cupcakes, and pear donuts slices for lunch! The boys thought it was all hilarious! And i put gallon jugs at the wash machine and called John, "Oh nooo! There are gallons coming from the washer!" He is not as easily amused as the boys!
I hope you are finding some joy and able to enjoy the little things right now!
