 Avery's 3rd Portfolio for the year.


ELA:

I can complete lessons in 100 Easy Lessons each week, finishing the book by year end:

-Avery has completed 13 lesosns in 100 Easy Lessons to Reading 

I can practice writing by completing a page in My Printing Book 3 times a week:

-He has finished half the letter practice writing pages in his Minecraft workbook

I can write every letter of the alphabet by memory by year end.

-Avery writes words often on his drawings


MATH

I can regroup, add, and subtract up to three digit numbers.

I can compare numbers on a number line.

I can determine less than, greater than numbers.

I can understand and tell about the parts that make different shapes unique (e.g., triangles have 3 sides).

I can create new two and three dimensional shapes from other shapes (e.g., 2 cubes make a rectangular prism).

I can break circles and rectangles into equal parts and use the words whole, halves, fourths, and quarters to talk about them

- Avery has completed many more pages in his Minecraft math book, he is almost finished with it
-Avery plays board games on a weekly basis that focus on strategy, adding and subtracting, fractions, spacial concepts, logic, planning, and pattering.
-Avery used Geo boards to create 2D shapes with rubber bands, and builds with magna tiles to create 3D shapes



SCIENCE

I can learn about science through Steve Spangler Science kits in the mail.

I can learn about science through reading books

I can learn about science through playing board games.

-Avery has completed 3 of the Steve Spangler science boxes. Learning about light refraction, rainbow science, electrical science, conductivity, and insulators

-Avery plays weekly board games that focus on science such as Beez, Planet, Wildcraft, Farming Game, etc

-Avery listens to books read each week about scientific topics. The last two months was about animals in winter and this month we have started environmental science and anatomy


SOCIAL STUDIES

I can locate and identify important places in the community (e.g., schools, library, fire department, cultural places, etc.).

I can explain how seasonal changes influence activities in the community.

I can give examples of local natural resources and describe how people use them.

I can construct maps (including mental maps), graphs, and other representations of familiar places.

-Avery plays board games that teach map skills, such as Ticket to Ride, Risk and Carcassone.
-Avery has played Made for Trade, a game that teaches community function in the age in the Industrial Revolution
-Avery listened to chapters in Story of the World each week, we are on chapter 34
-Avery listens to books about subject matter following Story of the World chapters(his favorite are these You Woulnd't Want to Be.... books!)


ELECTIVES

I can complete art projects with my art supplies based on our social studies subjects. 

I can nature journal each week while exploring natural areas with co-op.

I can build 3D wood puzzles

-Avery has completed 3D wooden puzzles 
-Avery journals each week with co-op based on our subject matter
-Avery does art projects in line with Story of the World
