Week 8 October 25-29th: Pumpkins, Skeletons, and More!
Happy Halloween or Samhain!! We had a fun week of dressing up, partying, eating treats, and visiting the beach!
This week for games the boys played Robot Wars together a few times. A great strategy game that teaches coding! They also played chess against themselves and their aunt. She is going to start coming once a week to teach piano to Michael and I. We also did a fun paper craft, making halloween pictures with the boys cousins while she did our lessons.
Co-op went to a local park and played and learned about Dia de los Muertos. The boys did a sugar skill craft and learned why some families celebrate. Every year I wish to make an alter with photos of relatives who have passed, but didn't get to it again this year. Maybe next year! Some writing samples! The boys are working their way through their books nicely!
I was a unicorn for halloween and Michael curled my mane for me.
Emmet's writing sample.
Avery's writing sample!
We had a girl come dressed as the "Switch Witch" for our party! She did face painting and answers allllll the questions about what it is like to be a witch. Each child also created their own game or activity for halloween. We had: pumpkin bowling, croquet, "guess how many" jars, pop-a-punch board with prizes inside, pin the eyes on a ghost, a fun science experiment with bath bombs and plastic spiders, and more! We had a potluck and watched Monsters University at the end of the party. Overall the best way to celebrate!
Emmet and Avery carving their pumpkins! Emmet grew his own in his garden! We harvested them all and in the end he had grown 5 carving pumpkins, and three hullless sugar pumpkins!!
We read outloud the entire book of The Wild Robot this week. The boys LOVED it, and so did I; a very cute story. We also had Michael's architect drawing class, and Michael and Emmet's minecraft education class. Michael read the second How To Train Your Dragon Book, and Emmet read the second book in the Diary of an 8 Bit Kitten series. Avery practiced reading a picture book to me.
Happy Pumpkins and Wtiches!
