This blog post is going to be what we have covered this week, as well as what we will cover over the next two weeks until year end. We plan to school through the summer with hopes to finish Story of the World Vol 4, our Outer Space unit, and our workbooks by September 1st.
This week we have buttoned up the things that needed doing before end of the year. Emmet finished his reference writing piece. He wrote about the history of coding.
Family night roasting hot dogs and enjoying listening to the birds!
Michael found a handful of Ask! Magazine when he cleaned the car and read me all sorts of facts about obscure plant medicine and the cool purpose of fungus in the world.
For Outer Space we filled out these space posters! The boys really enjoyed them! I read 1.5 chapters of Story of the World while they worked on them. We read about The Great Depression, the civil war in Spain druing the 1930's, and begun the next chapter on Hitler's rise to power and the beginning of WWII. We have the American Girl book Kit Kitridge, another book explaining about life during the 1920's, and even the Kit Kitridge movie to water. This will be out living history portion of The Great Depression we will finish up this week. Hoping to get to the library early next week to get some more books on WWII and Hitler.
A board game we had saved for this week too! The boys are playing this morning.
We played this new game from the library, Call To Adventure. They really liked it and played at least 10 times in the week we had it! We also played Unstable Unicorns, Exploding Kittens, Climbing Knights, Doodle Dungeons, and Carcassone this week.
We also did math and writing pages two days this week so far, hoping to get our third day in tomorrow.
Over the next two weeks, and continuing into summer, we plan to do the following:
3 lessons a week in math
3 lessons a week in writing
1 lesson a week in reading for Avery, older two read each night before bed
1 lessons of outer space a week, starting our paper mache solar system
Reading 1 chapter in SOTW each week as well as follow up living history picture books
Have a fantastic summer! I will update blog once or twice a month!
